For those of you who don't know Grammar Girl, you are doing yourself a serious disservice. I love her.
She knows everything there is to know about grammar, mechanics, usage, syntax, and more. I used her nearly every day in the English classroom and I would heartily recommend homeschoolers use her as well. She is a grammar goddess.
So, what about this sidekick business? Well, lately, several of my ex-students have been calling or Facebooking me with grammar questions. They are in college now, and now it matters. They didn't listen to me when they had the chance, so now they're calling on their old English teacher, which is all well and good -- actually, just good, if you want to get technical -- because I still love them. But I got to thinking, I could do it on my blog! Instead of typing answers into Facebook, I could type them here, and then just refer people who've got the same questions.
Now, I am not trying to replace Grammar Girl. She's the woman. And you should try her first. But she's so popular, that your questions might not get answered for weeks. If that happens to you, then feel free to drop me a line! I love grammar! I know, I'm a nerd, sue me. :)

What a great idea! I'm with you in grammar. I think I may be the only music teacher who required rough drafts, proofreading, etc for reports for class - mainly to weed out the "text speak" (I guess it is technically txt spk though...) which kids felt to be quite appropriate. These kids need all the help they can get!
